We love where we live and we hope you do too, so we want to share with you the top ways you can help us keep this place so wonderful. Here are a few Rethink Waste tips to help you get started on your adventure.
Bring your own
Paper or plastic cups, and other single-use disposables, aren’t recyclable here. Our composting system also doesn't accept "compostable" foodware, even if it's labeled as such. When you leave your place of lodging, don't forget your refillable bottle, to-go mug, utensil kit, and straw!
Won't use it? Refuse it!
Say no thanks to unneeded single-use extras like condiments, bags, drink lids, napkins, and silverware.
Recycle right: don't be a wishful recycler

Waste less food
- Ask if your lodging has composting options — if they don’t, let them know it’s important to you.
- Sharing is caring! Consider splitting an entree to reduce food waste. An estimated 40% of food ends up in the landfill.
- Buy in bulk! There are lots of options in Bend and you can get just the amount you need.
- Heading out to eat? Bring a container with you for leftovers.
