Food Waste

The average Oregon households throws away $2,000 worth of food every year.

Not only does this cost us financially, it wastes the water, land, labor, and plant or animal life that went into making that food. When 1 in 10 Central Oregonians do not have access to reliable and healthy food, no food should be wasted.

Climate Change

Food waste that goes in the landfill cannot break down properly because the landfill is an anaerobic environment (lacking oxygen). When food breaks down without enough oxygen, methane- a greenhouse gas that significantly contributes to climate change- is produced.
