Free Energy Assessments for Small Businesses

local-biz

The Bend Energy Challenge, in conjunction with the Green Impact Campaign, is hosting a great volunteer opportunity for college students this fall, and 20 students from OSU-Cascades and COCC have jumped on board!

The Green Impact Campaign’s “Kilowatt Smackdown” is a national competition where college students go out and do energy assessments for small businesses while competing for scholarships. The Environmental Center, as part of the Georgetown University Energy Prize competition, is upping the ante with additional tuition scholarship money available to the top 2 producing LOCAL students this quarter ($500 / $250). Students will gain relevant job experience performing energy assessments, help small local businesses save money by reducing their energy costs– and compete for scholarship money!

The Green Impact Campaign competition runs now until November 23rd, but the Bend Energy Challenge is extending the local competition through December 18th for the extra scholarships.

If you know of a local small business that could benefit from a free energy assessment resulting in a detailed recommendation report with ideas for lowering energy costs, please contact Kim McClain at 541-385-6908×12 or kim@envirocenter.org.
