Electric School Bus Tour was a hit!

Electric Bus pacific power

The Electric Bus Learning Project hit the road earlier this spring to bring Oregon its first electric school bus tour!  During this tour, rural, urban, and suburban school districts in Central, Western and Southern Oregon enjoyed Ride ‘n’ Drives. This means that transportation teams were able to ride on and even drive the buses. While test driving the bus, some were skeptical at first only to find that they liked the quiet, clean ride.

As we know from our work on promoting electric cars it is very important to get first hand experience driving an electric vehicle to both feel the benefits first hand and demystify some of the changes from current diesel technology.

Over the 5 day tour the Lion-C electric school bus visited 8 school distracts and interacted with 140 participants including:

  • Transportation Managers
  • Bus Drivers
  • Mechanics
  • Utility representatives
  • Government regulators
  • Non profit workers

We are excited to see the benefits of electric technology expand to the students and staff that use buses to get to school. The Electric Bus Learning Project will continue to work with districts in Pacific Power territory to help prepare them for grant opportunities. It’s our goal that their first experience with an ESB will leave them wanting more!
