Upcoming City Council Work Session

unnamed

Wow! 130 plus people turned out on July 21 to tell the Bend City Council how they feel about climate action in Bend. And the vast majority asked the Council to adopt a strong, meaningful resolution, with many mentioning the three issues (see 7/5/16 update).

A big thanks to all who showed up. And a big thanks to the City Council for calling the special meeting so they could hear from the community.

The meeting was so well attended that the Council ran out of time to have any real discussion about what they heard and their next steps. So they plan to have that conversation at their next work session, this Wednesday, August 3, from 6:00 to 7:00pm.

This work session will be a great opportunity to listen and watch the Council as they digest, discuss and deliberate on what they have heard from the community and decide their next steps. There will not be opportunity for public comment during the work session. But it’s still important for the Council to see that people care enough to show up, listen and better understand what the Councilors are thinking and why.

What: City Council Work Session (wear green to show your support for a strong resolution)

Why: Discussing next steps on a climate action resolution for Bend

When: Wednesday, August 3, 6:00 to 7:00 pm

Where: City Council Chambers, 700 NW Wall St.

And if you do want to make a comment, there is always the Visitor’s Section during the regular Council meeting, which starts at 7 pm. Be sure to sign up a few minutes before the meeting starts. Sign up forms are usually right next to the door the the Council Chambers.

We hope to see on August 3. And keep checking back here for updates and how to get involved after that.
