The American Conversation: Talking Across Political Lines

September 3, 2019

$65 – $75

Dr. Elizabeth Marino will give an overview of how different individuals and communities view risk, and what is risky, based on foundational worldviews and cultural values. Divergent risk assessments can translate into how communities view and act on issues such as conservation or climate change. This presentation will give specific examples of how background values affect how we talk about the environment, with suggestions for moving forward to form community cohesion around maintaining relationships with the places we hold dear.

Presented by Elizabeth Marino, Ph.D., Assistant Prof. of Anthropology, Co-Director, Laboratory for the American Conversation, OSU-Cascades.

Free and open to the public!
