Science Pub: Fungi in the Forest

September 28, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

$22
science pub

Explore the variety of fungi in Central Oregon and the surprisingly important role they play in forest health. You’ll discover the vast fungal communication networks in forests at boot-level and beneath, how fungi are adapted to our fire-dependent environment, and how they can help forests recover from fire.

You’ll also learn about the largest fungus in the world, located nearby in the Malheur National Forest.

About the Presenter

Cowan’s experience in mycology began at the State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science & Forestry.
