Racist and offensive place names: The movement to rename mountains, rivers and valleys

There are thousands of racist and problematic names of mountains, rivers, and valleys on public lands. There are also efforts to rename these geological features to reflect the diversity of our country.

Experts will include grassroot activists, scientists and community leaders who are working to make the names of rivers, mountains and valleys more inclusive and representative of our nation’s diversity.
