Future of Farming – Hydroponic Gardening Tour
June 13, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm$5 – $8
Hydroponics, or growing plants in a nutrient solution root medium, is a growing area of local food production. Learn about the state-of-the-art techniques for producing food in a controlled, soilless setting.
Learn firsthand about one of our regions newest methods of farming. Hydroponic farming allows for amazing season extension and increased yields. This very well may be the future of farming in Central Oregon.
Join us for the rare opportunity to visit not only one, but two of the regions largest producers and receive first-hand tours from the hydroculturists themselves, Ryan of The Next Season Farm and Jessica of Tender Greens.
The hydroponic journey will begin at The Next Season Farm, in Tumalo with tours beginning at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.
Next, travel down the road a couple miles to Tender Greens hydroculture farm where tours will be provided at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
Addy Macs ice cream truck will be on site to provide an afternoon treat.
Complete your hydroponic journey by touring the Worthy Gardens at Worthy Brewing Company. Tours at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm. Enjoy a half-price beer as part of the Faces of Farming tour. Just show your bracelet.
