From Community Secrets to Public Apology: Lessons from The High Road
May 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
During World War II, the names of 16 veterans were removed from a public honor roll in Oregon. All were Japanese Americans who served our country while their families were incarcerated on American soil. In 2022, the Oregon Legislature passed a bill to dedicate the Oregon Nisei Veterans WWII Memorial Highway in Hood River. Join us as Linda Tamura addresses her path to learning this “community secret,” Oregon’s fractured history, heroes unheralded, and lessons for moving forward.
