$65 – $75Cascades East Transit celebrates Earth Day with free rides and a sustainability themed mural on wheels!
On Friday, April 22 the public is invited to take free rides on all CET Community Connector shuttles and Bend fixed-routes. Additionally CET is pleased to showcase a sustainability themed mural on the exterior of a CET bus.
The hand-painted mural was designed by the Youth Climate Action Now Bend Chapter (YouCAN) and features the beauty and natural environment of Central Oregon. Students from Summit High and Juniper Elementary School painted bus wraps which were installed on both sides of a CET bus. The sustainability themed bus can be seen on CET’s recreational routes, Mt. Bachelor and Lava Butte.
Riders may take transit free of charge on all Community Connector shuttles and Bend fixed-routes on Earth Day, April 22. According to the Federal Transit Administration, taking transit reduces greenhouse gas emissions, improves air quality, and saves energy. Bend service was recently expanded by 30 percent in September 2015 allowing riders more direct routes and shorter waiter times. YouCan was formed in 2015 by high school students from Bend, Summit, and Mountain View High Schools to work on a healthy atmosphere and stable climate for all present and future generations.
