About the Instructor
Instructor and ADU guru, Kol Peterson of Accessory Dwelling Strategies LLC, will give you everything you need to understand Portland’s policies and how to help your clients navigate the market. Kol literally wrote the book on ADUs, Backdoor Revolution: The Definitive Guide to ADU Development, and edits and manages accessorydwellings.org, a website that addresses ADU policy issues and features an array of ADU projects. Kol also runs Portland’s city-wide ADU tour, and does ADU related teaching, speaking and consulting for a variety of audiences.
Bend ADU Market
The number of ADUs being developed in Bend is on the rise since 2016, due to regulatory changes made by the Bend City Council that makes it easier, more predictable, and less expensive for homeowners to build an ADU. With the passage of HB 2001, off-street parking is no longer required for ADUs since January 2020. Bend is currently the 2nd largest ADU market in the state following only Portland!
