2021 Earth Day artwork by Madeline Magaña

September 3, 2019

$65 – $75

Introducing the 2021 Earth Day artwork by Madeline Magaña! Madeline is 16 years young and a proud member of the Latinx community here in Bend, Oregon. She uses art to inspire others, and to express love for her culture and artistry. Madeline is a bilingual/bilateral student at Bend Senior High who enjoys painting, playing sports and listening to music.

In Madeline’s words:
This art piece is meant to bring omen to the earth and to my ancestors, The Mexicas of Tenochtitlan, although they didn’t identify as Aztec these people claim the meaning of the work Aztec meaning “inhabitants of Aztla.” I want to bring light and love to how they were aware of their environment, respected, and learned to coexist with the earth. Everything from the rain to the soft soil on the earth was meaningful to them. I want this painting to demonstrate and embrace the colors, the Gods, plants, animals and insects. I want people to feel the painting and remember how amazing and lucky we are to live on earth, and to remember how our ancestors depended and took care of it.
