Deschutes County – Solid Waste Community Engagement Coordinator

This position promotes proper waste management and waste reduction practices by developing, coordinating, and providing education and on-site services regarding recycling, waste reduction, and solid waste programs and operations. The Solid Waste Community Engagement Coordinator also utilizes project management and community engagement skills to collaborate with staff across departments and other local government jurisdictions such as cities, parks and recreation, and schools, as well as the business community, multi-family complexes, and non-profit organizations. This position will coordinate with the County’s communications team to develop and implement marketing plans and promotional campaigns, including audio/video aids, written materials, press releases, advertisements, etc., to enhance the County image and maximize program effectiveness and increase consumer participation.  In addition, this position will plan, implement, and participate in special community events including developing exhibits, interactive activities, scheduling and supporting volunteers, and will maintain records, files and databases related to program functions and activities.

Salary $6,220.43 – $7,939.62 Monthly

COTA – Trail Builder: Cline Butte

The Central Oregon Trail Alliance (COTA) seeks a positive, resourceful, and experienced Trail Builder for this limited duration position. The right candidate will learn the organization’s needs quickly, complete high quality work, and demonstrate great judgment. The Trail Builder will embody COTA’s mission to develop, protect, and enhance the Central Oregon mountain bike experience. This position reports to COTA’s Trails Program Director.

Hours, Compensation, and Location:

  • Limited duration position with a maximum of 1,000 hours. Average of 40 hours per week for 6 months (June – November) in 2024.
  • Hourly rate of up to $26 depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Location: You will primarily work in the field on the Cline Buttes Recreation Area. When you are not in the field you will work from home. You must be based in Central Oregon, preferably Bend, Redmond, or Sisters.

Think Wild – Wildlife Educator

Think Wild is seeking to recruit an hourly, non-exempt Wildlife Educator based in Central Oregon to support our community wildlife education programs, including summer camps, in-school programs, field trips, guided walks, and more. They will also assist with the care and training of our small ambassador collection.

As a Wildlife Educator, you will play a vital role in promoting conservation awareness and environmental stewardship by delivering engaging and informative educational programs focused on native wildlife and habitat. You will have the opportunity to inspire individuals of all ages to appreciate and respect the natural world, fostering a deep connection with wildlife and the importance of protecting their habitats. This position requires a strong passion for wildlife, excellent communication skills, and the ability to design and deliver educational content in a captivating manner.

The applicant must be based in Central Oregon and willing to travel within the region, including to Bend, Madras, Prineville, etc. for programs. Potential start date as soon as possible with flexible hours and schedule depending on availability. Priority will be given to those available to work for all or most of the Monday – Friday weeks of June 24, July 8, July 22, and August 12 for summer camps.

Deschutes Land Trust – Community Engagement Associate

The Community Engagement Associate provides core support for Deschutes Land Trust community engagement activities. This includes assisting with the production and distribution of core communications material (print and digital), implementing social media content and strategies, representing the Land Trust at community events, and providing event registration and support for Land Trust events. The Community Engagement Associate reports to the Community Engagement Manager, but works collaboratively with all Land Trust Staff and Board Members to build support for the Land Trust. Please see the detailed position description.

Bicycle Rides Northwest (BRNW) – Event Crew, Sustainability Team and Others

BRNW has multiple positions available on one or both of our two week-long road-bike tours this summer. These are temporary-employee jobs, where you join our 45-person crew for the event and earn a salary for the tour. Our tours have 300 riders moving from town to town over the week, so our “camp” moves as well. The two tours are BRNW California 24, June 22-29, starting and ending in Yreka, CA (job commitment dates June 20-30); and BRNW Washington 24, July 13-20, starting and ending in Colville, WA (job commitment dates July 11-22).

We have positions open on our Sustainability Team (one spot for both weeks, one for the CA tour only); our Rest Stops Team (one spot for both tours); our Camp Central Team (one spot for both tours); and our Tent & Porter Team (7 positions for the WA tour only). Pay starts at $900-$1,000 per tour, with bonuses for working both tours and/or driving an event vehicle. We provide transportation, camping sites, three meals per day, free snacks and beverages, portable showers and toilets, first aid training and custom crew apparel.
