Garden Grants

Supporting School Garden Creation and Operations with Small Grants

Building and sustaining successful school gardens requires cash and lots of sweat equity. That’s why, as part of our Garden For Every School Initiative, local grants was one of our 4 key strategies.

Thanks to community and foundation support, we have created a Central Oregon School Garden Grant Fund that will award $500 – $1,500 grants each year to support school gardens. Check out our 1 page grant info sheet on what our local garden grants cover, to make sure you are eligible, and to see the application questions. Once you have a plan, complete our online application. (Please note that you may need to email a separate budget to Denise Rowcroft).

Please note, if you are a new garden in the Bend-LaPine School District, we are working with the district to develop a school garden development process that ensures everyone is on the same page and working together to ensure a sustainable school garden. New gardens seeking funding will have to complete that application before being considered for funding. We will post info as soon as it is available.

Garden Grants Are Now Open!

Important Dates:

  • Grant applications are due November 17th. (We welcome feedback about shifting this date earlier in future years).
  • Grants are awarded the first week of January.
  • If funding allows we have a second round with a deadline in January.
  • Progress reports with photos are due May 31st.
