Rubbish Renewed
You won’t want to miss out on the upcoming “Rubbish Renewed” Eco Fashion Show on January 15th. The event is “rooted in a love of fashion, an appreciation of art and a passion for the planet” and is a fundraising event for REALMS Charter School. Not only is the Eco Fashion Show a great way to recognize the creative use and beautification of otherwise landfill-bound garbage, the event highlights REALMS unique approach to education. REALMS arts education inspires students to share content knowledge through artistic expression that synthesizes experiences and educates others about our world. The resulting eclectic, wearable art runway show, a live and silent auction, and a gallery-style marketplace (where contributing local artists sell and showcase their work), will showcase how we “fashion” our lives while lessening waste.
You can get your tickets starting December 15th for the January 15th Eco Fashion Show at The Armory in Bend (for ticket information, go here). The first show will start at 6pm (doors open at 5pm-all ages welcome), with the second show starting at 8:30pm (doors open at 7:30, 21+). Come early to enjoy the local marketplace and Eco Silent Auction, and stay late to bid on runway pieces at the live auction! Enjoy local drinks inside and local fare outside from a variety of food carts.
Remember to cast your vote after the show for the Business Challenge Contest where local businesses turn their waste into fashion for a chance to win the coveted trash trophy! The Environmental Center’s Rethink Waste Project is a proud sponsor of the event.
