2017 Earth Day Fair & Parade
Save the date: Saturday, April 22, 2017!
More information will be provided as we get closer to the event. Stay tuned!
Join The Environmental Center for a fun and festive celebration of the natural world! Our day of festivities kicks off with a colorful, creative parade filled with children and adults costumed as their favorite plant or animal. Get ready for the parade at an upcoming costume workshop!
11:00 am: Assemble on Louisiana Avenue next to McMenamin’s
11:30am: Parade starts (about 8 blocks through downtown Bend and ends at the Earth Day Fair)
No motorized vehicles, written words or live animals allowed in the parade.
Costume workshops to be announced.
Following the parade, there will be live music, art, local businesses, a variety of food, interactive displays and great hands-on activities for all ages. The fair takes place on Kansas Avenue in front of The Environmental Center (downtown Bend).
Book Drive for the Learning Garden’s Little Library
The Daughters of the American Revolution are dedicated to historical preservation, patriotism, and education. Locally, the Bend DAR Chapter promotes education through spreading the love of literacy by giving out books to youth in our community. They approached us with the idea to build and steward a Free Little Library in our Kansas Ave. Learning Garden, stocked with youth books geared towards nature and our environment. Help us create a collection of books ready to go for Earth Day by dropping off some books between now and April 22nd! And be sure to join us in the garden during the Earth Day Fair at 1:00pm as we officially open the little library with a ribbon cutting.
Interested in being a fair vendor? We will post applications and guidelines here very soon! Please carefully review the vendor guidelines and submit your application and fees by March 31, 2017. All vendors are required to participate in Zero Waste practices.
Volunteer Opportunities – SOLVE It For Earth Day
SOLVE and its partners are bringing Oregon’s largest environmental service event to Central Oregon once again! Support your community and environment by signing up for a project on April 22nd to help clean up litter, pull invasive plants, beautify an urban landscape, and plant native trees and shrubs. This is a great way to get your hands dirty and make an impact in honor of Earth Day before participating in the festivities! Check out the full list of opportunities and sign up today.
