We had a great time celebrating with you! Stay tuned for details on the 2017 event.
2016 event info below:
Join The Environmental Center for a fun and festive celebration of the natural world! Our day of festivities kicks off with a colorful, creative parade filled with children and adults costumed as their favorite plant or animal.
Please note the parade will begin 30 minutes later than last year!
11:00 am: Assemble on Louisiana Avenue next to McMenamin’s
11:30am: Parade starts (about 8 blocks through downtown Bend and ends at the Earth Day Fair)
No motorized vehicles, written words or live animals allowed in the parade.
Get ready for the parade at an upcoming costume workshop!
Bird Masks: April 10th, 12 – 3pm
Come design your very own bird mask for the parade! Start with a blank paper mache mask and add your own paper, fabric and other festive materials to make it truly unique. Workshop will be directed by Teafly and hosted by Utilitu Sewing + Design at their NEW studio @ 1234 NE 1st St. Please register to reserve your spot in this workshop. Maximum 12 children per session.
Fish Costumes: April 16th, 11am – 1pm
Join Base Camp Studio for a costume-making workshop at The Environmental Center, where you can create your very own fish costume! Then take part in the “School of Fish” in the Parade, honoring our fish and waterways and the vital role they play in our world. Open to all ages. Please RSVP for this workshop!
Following the parade, there will be live music, art, local businesses, a variety of food, interactive displays and great hands-on activities for all ages. The fair takes place on Kansas Avenue in front of The Environmental Center (downtown Bend).
B Side Brass Band will be performing during the fair, bringing a taste of New Orleans Brass Band Tradition to the Pacific Northwest. Come enjoy some fresh, energetic music, local eats and great community!

Volunteer Opportunities – SOLVE It For Earth Day
Volunteer Connect and SOLVE have partnered to bring Oregon’s largest environmental service event to Central Oregon. Support your community and environment by signing up for a project on April 22nd or April 23rd to help clean up litter, pull invasive plants, beautify an urban landscape, and plant native trees and shrubs. This is a great way to get your hands dirty and make an impact in honor of Earth Day before participating in the festivities! Check out the full list of opportunities and sign up today.
