The Environmental Center will celebrate Earth Day by hosting its annual Earth Day Fair and Parade on Saturday, April 23rd. The annual community event, now in its 27th year, is a celebration of sustainable living that will include live music from B Side Brass Band, local food, activities and games for children and adults, non-profit organizations and green businesses.

This year’s event is presented by Strictly Organic Coffee Company. The fair will be held on Kansas Avenue in front of The Environmental Center at 16 NW Kansas Avenue in downtown Bend from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a free event.

The annual Earth Day Parade will once again kick off the event. This festive parade includes children and adults dressed in a costume of their favorite plant, animal, or other representation of the natural world. There are three parade rules: no written words, no motorized vehicles and no live pets. Two costume workshops will be held in preparation for the parade. All workshop information can be found on the Earth Day Fair webpage.

The parade will be held in downtown Bend with staging at 11:00 a.m. on Louisiana Avenue next to McMenamins. The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m., winding through downtown Bend and ending at the Earth Day Fair on Kansas Avenue. Please note: The parade start is 30 minutes later than in past years.

The Environmental Center also encourages community members to participate in SOLVE IT for Earth Day, a service event in collaboration with Volunteer Connect and SOLVE. Join over 6,000 volunteers working on environment-focused projects across the state on Friday and Saturday, April 22 & 23, 2016. Sign up for a local project at www.volunteerconnectnow.org.
