Round Butte Clean Up

Round Butte is a dormant, shield volcano located between Madras and Culver. This beautiful area is popular with locals and visitors alike. From the top, you are treated to a 360-degree view of the snow capped Cascade Range from Mt. Bachelor to Mt. Hood, Madras to the north and Culver and open desert dotted with buttes to the south and east. It is a great place to enjoy fresh air and get plenty of sunshine. Depending on our spring weather, balsamroot and lupine may just be beginning to bloom. The area is also used as an off-highway vehicle course and shooting range; unfortunately, some who use it leave garbage, pallets, tires, appliances, old targets, shell casings and more littering the once pristine area. Last year, volunteers picked up more than 5 tons of micro litter, household and building materials waste, and invasive weeds. The Butte needs your help again this Earth Day. Please join SOLVE and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to clean up Round Butte. Volunteers are needed to pick up litter.
