Public lands play host to 71% of climbing and 43% of paddling done in America, and they also contain nearly 200,000 miles of hiking trails and 13,000 miles of mountain biking trails. About half of the US population participated in outdoor recreation at least once in 2018, including hunting, hiking, camping, fishing, trail running and many more outdoor activities.
