Forest ‘restoration’ and biomass: trouble for Central Oregon?
September 3, 2019
$65 – $75Take a trip up the Cascades Highway and you’ll see what the Forest Service is doing in the name of ‘restoration’. This is just the beginning of an extensive, but questionable, attempt to preclude large wildfires in the Deschutes National Forest.
The slash piles from these fuel reduction efforts are slated to feed local biomass projects. Biomass is being hyped as “green” renewable energy, yet is anything but that considering its carbon and air pollution impacts.
In this talk, we will present research debunking forest ‘restoration’ and biomass myths.
