Reuse Deschutes seeks community input!

A poster promoting a program to reduce waste in Central Oregon. It features a sign that reads "Trash Island" and bins filled with glasses. The top text says, "TIRED OF FEEDING TRASH ISLAND?" with an invitation to apply for the "DISH" program, which focuses on diverse input for sustainable hospitality. The flyer also highlights the chance to shape the program and receive a stipend. The bottom includes the logo for "RETHINK WASTE," an environmental center program.

If you’re a frequent visitor here, you may recall our earlier announcements to bring reusables to Central Oregon. Formerly Reuse Bend, the working title for this initiative is now Reuse Deschutes, and we’re excited to start work on it! To kick things off, we are forming a broad stakeholder advisory group – DISH (Diverse Input on Sustainable Hospitality) – to provide guidance on the Reuse Deschutes project. We’re sharing the word in hopes that readers like you, food service businesses, or other folks you know, might join the team. In addition to helping shape the program, you’d also receive a ~$200 stipend.

We’re still seeking a few food service businesses, especially a restaurant and a food cart.
