2025 Year in Review!
2025 was a rough year for everyone… and despite all the chaos… The Environmental Center still had many wins. Among an administration that cut funding to environmental programs, policies, and communities that need support the most, we were still able to make a real local impact.
As we look back on the year, we’re feeling incredibly proud—and deeply grateful—for what our community made possible alongside our staff.

Youth Education
Our educators visited 12 schools, reached 60+ classes, and worked with 1,700 students across Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties. That’s 1,700 young people exposed to climate education, which is a HUGE win.
Rethink Waste Project
We supplied reusable dishware for over 100 events, keeping 3,000 single-use dishes out of the local landfill. Our team hosted 5 Repair Cafés, fixing 150+ items and keeping them out of the trash.
Through the Community Innovation Fund, we awarded $44,110 across 13 projects all local to Central Oregon and all working to make our home a more sustainable place.
Garden for Every School
Our team gave away $18,000 to support 15 school garden projects, impacting 2,300+ students across Bend, Redmond, Sisters, and Madras.
Climate Solutions
We helped 86 homes implement sustainability projects, reducing reliance on fossil fuels while saving money and protecting human health.
Advocacy
Our team showed up to advocate for climate policies in Salem, Washington, DC, and locally at Bend City Council. Energize Bend—a coalition The Environmental Center helped start—is taking off and making huge strides. Because this coalition showed up and advocated for cleaner air and healthier homes in Central Oregon, City Council is moving forward with a climate impact fee.

Events
Our team hosted the Earth Day Fair, Mountainfilm on Tour, Latino Heritage Celebration, Action Nights in the Garden, Green Drinks, and sooooo many more free community events. Our passion for bringing people together creates connection and a sense of “togetherness” during a time when the world can feel like it’s falling apart.
All of this work happened because of you. This year was backed by 500+ donors and supporters (and counting!). Our impact is powered by educators, students, volunteers, donors, and community partners who believe in a healthier, more sustainable Central Oregon.
Thank you for being part of it. Here’s to even more impact in the year ahead 💚
