Janet joined the Environmental Center in December of 2022. Previous to joining TEC, Janet worked in various roles with local nonprofit organizations such as Finance & Administrative Coordinator for Better Together, The Early Learning Hub of Central Oregon, and Director of Mecca Bend. Their professional background also includes paralegal assistant to a local attorney specializing in federal and state tax law. Janet’s commitment to empowering their community continues through their work as owner & founder of Libre Strategies, LLC – an equity and outreach consulting business focused on inclusionary practices and policies for migrant, Latin@ and Spanish speaking folks and business owners. Janet previously served as an elected member of the Bend La Pine School District’s Board of Directors (July 2021-September 2022). They currently serve on the Board of the ACLU’s (American Civil Liberties Union) Oregon chapter and Rural PAC.
Janet is a 12 year resident of central Oregon, originally born in Tongva territory. Above all else, Janet is a parent to two vibrant teenage boys and a German Shepherd named Luna.
