SUMMARY:Who Uses the Water in Central Oregon? Cities\, Farms\, Rivers\, and How It’s Distributed
DESCRIPTION:As canals turn on and river levels shift\, many people ask: who uses the water in Central Oregon and how is it distributed? This Raise the Deschutes seminar investigates where the water goes\, who holds the rights to it\, and how it is managed across an overallocated basin. We will explore municipal systems\, irrigation\, and instream flows\, and what this water year looks like. This seminar coincides with the City of Bend’s 100th anniversary and the Deschutes River Conservancy’s 30th year.

SUMMARY:Wild Ones Training: Turning Passion into Advocacy
DESCRIPTION:Are you someone who enjoys spending time in nature\, loves public lands\, cares about wildlife\, and wants to do more to protect the environment? Are you ready to step up your environmental activism? With the current attacks on our public lands and waters\, we need more voices collectively pushing back and speaking up for nature. Sharing personal stories\, your passions\, and your “why” with elected officials and decision-makers is key to influencing their priorities. Anyone can be an effective advocate\, but it takes training and practice. \nJoin Oregon Wild and Protect Our Winters at this in-person workshop in Bend to learn how to craft your personal story and how to leverage your voice to make the most impact. We will also discuss the most pressing issues facing public lands and wildlife in Oregon\, and give you all the tools and resources you need to effectively advocate for the places and critters you love! \nJoin us for this special event on Monday\, November 10\, and bring along a friend–activism is more fun and effective in community!

SUMMARY:Protect Oregon's Wildest Places
DESCRIPTION:For over two decades\, the Roadless Rule has protected 58 million acres of the wildest and most intact forests on our public lands. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has recently announced it will be repealing these important public lands protections – a move that will open roadless wildlands to road construction\, development\, and industrial logging. \nIn Central Oregon\, over 200\,000 acres of public land and beloved locales are threatened. \nJoin Central Oregon LandWatch\, Oregon Wild\, and Sierra Club Oregon Chapter at Worthy Brewing on September 9 to learn what the repeal of the Roadless Rule means for wild places in Oregon\, and take action to stop this latest attack on our public lands. \nSpace is limited\, register today: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/protect-oregons-wildest-places-tickets-1592159304339

SUMMARY:Wild Wednesday Event: What's With All The Stumps?
DESCRIPTION:Have you noticed all of the logging happening near the Phil’s trail complex and other favorite nearby trails in central Oregon?  If you’re like us\, you might have thought some of it looked fine and some looked too aggressive. Join Oregon Wild in Bend on March 27 for a discussion about what’s going on with all the logging on the Deschutes National Forest. How do these forest management decisions impact recreation\, wildlife\, climate change\, and fire risk?  We’ll explore what’s happening in our local forests\, its impacts\, and how you can engage to influence what happens in the future.
