Thanks for your interest in the ultimate in star power—turning the sun into electricity. Every watt you produce at home will get Bend one step closer to winning the $5 million Energy Prize competition and will save you money on your power bills.
We’ve shared your contact information with our local solar contractor partners—they’ll be following up soon to schedule your free, no obligation solar site assessment. By getting more than one assessment, you can ensure that you’re getting a competitive bid and finding the best fit for your home.
After your solar site assessment, your contractor will prepare a detailed report about your home’s solar potential and the incentives and other options available to help reduce your solar installation costs. The report will help you decide if solar is a good fit for your home and budget.
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind as you work with your contractor and review the report they prepare for your home.
First, there are two ways to get a solar electric system installed on your home in Bend.
- Purchasing a System. This is the traditional route for putting solar on your roof. A qualified local contractor installs your system and you own all of the equipment. State and federal tax credits and utility incentives can cover up to 80% of the total equipment and installation costs.
- Power Purchase Agreement. A third party owns the system on your roof. You enter into an agreement with that party to purchase all of the power that the system produces for the life of your agreement (usually 20 years) and pay the party a one-time, up-front fee. A qualified local contractor installs the system on behalf of the third party. This option may lower your up-front costs and thus reduce your payback period, and often includes a guarantee on the performance of the system during the life of your agreement.
More information on both of these options and an example cost scenario is available on our website.
Our local contractors offer a mix of different solar systems and financing options. A comparison bid can help ensure that your system is the best fit for your home and family.
Thanks again for your interest in solar. Clean energy and savings are just around the corner!
