SUMMARY:Essential Practices for Central and Ductless Heat Pump Installations
DESCRIPTION:Heat pumps have proven to be an effective comfort solution for homes in Bend and the Central Oregon region – from central systems serving the entire home to single-zone ductless units\, but only when designed and installed properly. This interactive class will focus on real-world installation practices that lead to satisfied customers\, efficient operation\, and long system life. Participants will also get hands-on experience using Bluetooth tools to assess system airflow and ductwork performance. This training is designed for contractors\, HVAC installers and technicians\, energy efficiency professionals\, and other residential construction trades professionals serving Bend and the surrounding communities. \nCome prepared with questions related to heat pump installation. Lunch will be provided at the end of the training. You can take it with you or stay and network. What you will learn: the right system size based on the home’s layout\, heating and cooling load\, and distribution system (ducted or ductless); site and install outdoor units properly to avoid noise complaints\, drainage issues\, and service challenges; prepare the installation to support system longevity and meet manufacturer requirements; ensure proper airflow and distribution\, including duct system for central systems and effective indoor unit placement for ductless systems; verify system performance\, including airflow\, refrigerant charge\, and system controls; provide practical tips for educating homeowners on system operation and maintenance to maximize comfort\, efficiency\, and equipment life.
