Oregon Natural Desert Association – 2024 Hillis Internship

The Hillis Internship is open to early career individuals with a demonstrated interest in ONDA’s conservation mission. The intern will be surveying and recording bird use at Lake Abert, supporting long-term monitoring efforts by two area expert ornithologists. They will develop a broad understanding of wildlife and water management, natural history, and legislative and administrative policies applicable to Lake Abert. The ideal candidate is an aspiring conservation advocate with some field experience, avian species identification skills and the patience to accurately conduct bird counts.

This a part-time, paid internship for 10 to 12 weeks beginning in June 2024. The opportunity will involve 8 to 12 hours of work per week in a remote outdoor location, including travel time. The intern will be paid at a daily rate, equivalent to $20/hour, based on scope of field work. Travel costs, equipment, supplies and training are provided by ONDA.

OLCV – Engagement Organizer (Bend)

The engagement organizer is responsible for recruiting, engaging, mobilizing, and tracking OLCV members and volunteers to build political power for the environment and climate action in Oregon. The work includes recruiting new and more diverse members, organizing local events, and volunteer recruitment and mobilization for OLCV campaigns and priorities. Most of the work will take place on the phone and in the field. The position will be based out of OLCV’s Bend office, with required travel to different regions of the state.

High Desert Food and Farm Alliance – Food Access Market Support

HDFFA seeks a qualified, enthusiastic individual to join our team for the 2024 summer/fall market season to represent HDFFA at our Grow & Give and information booths at the Downtown Bend, Northwest Crossing, and Redmond Farmers Markets. Fresh food donations will be collected by HDFFA’s Grow & Give Coordinator for our Grow & Give program at the end of each Bend and NWX Farmers Markets. Food donations are then distributed through the regional food bank, NeighborImpact, to local pantries in Central Oregon.

HDFFA seeks a qualified, enthusiastic individual to join our team for the 2024 growing season to assist in coordinating HDFFA’s Grow & Give program. The Grow & Give Coordinator will collect donated produce at farmers markets and gardens and will harvest excess produce from local farms with our Harvest Team volunteers and deliver produce donations to the NeighborImpact food bank and other local food receiving sites for distribution to 50+ food pantries and hunger relief organizations.

High Desert Food and Farm Alliance – Food Access Manager

HDFFA is seeking a passionate and organized individual to deliver our Food Access programming throughout Central Oregon, including HDFFA’s Grow & Give, Fresh Harvest Kit, and Rural Food Security Programs. The Manager will work directly with the regional food bank and other partner organizations to implement these projects designed primarily to serve residents experiencing food insecurity. They will also provide executive and administrative support to meet the overall mission of the organization, including fostering relationships among farmers, businesses, volunteers, community members, and partner organizations. The Manager will coordinate volunteers and will supervise three seasonal, part-time coordinator positions: Grow & Give, Market Support, and Fresh Harvest Kit. The Manager will report to the Program Director.
