SUMMARY:Climate Friendly Areas Open House
DESCRIPTION:Join the City of Bend for an informational open house to learn more and provide your feedback on Climate Friendly Areas! \nCity staff are in the phase of analyzing locations throughout the city to designate as Climate Friendly Areas in a multi-year project driven by the state. As a part of this phase\, the community is invited to the Climate Friendly Areas Community Open House on Nov. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. It will be held in the Audubon Room at the Environmental Center at 16 NW Kansas Ave. \nClimate Friendly Areas are part of the Climate Friendly and Equitable Communities rules required by the state that intend to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by changing land use patterns. The end result will involve designating walkable\, connected areas that provide a mix of businesses\, housing and amenities such as parks and schools through code and policy amendments.

As he hurries through the streets of L.A.\, his path takes a turn after bumping into a jazz musician who helps him discover the correlation between jazz and skiing–an expression of art\, skiing\, and black culture. \nWe’ll also be joined by the filmmaker and star of The Blackcountry Journal\, Mallory Duncan\, and our friends from Vamonos Outside for a discussion after the film on skiing\, public lands\, and representation in the outdoors. \nMallory Duncan is a skier and filmmaker based in Bend\, Oregon. \nVamonos Outside is a grassroots movement to engage Central Oregon Latinx and BIPOC communities with the outdoors. Primarily utilizing partnerships\, public lands\, and outdoor recreation activities such as skiing/snowboarding\, mountain biking\, climbing\, hiking\, canoeing\, rafting\, and others. Their goal is to foster a sense of connection and integration between marginalized communities and green spaces.

Over the course of 16 months\, planning staff have engaged community members and technical experts on key issues facing the County. The resulting plan provides a policy framework for decision making on land use and planning related matters in the rural County for the next twenty years. The plan applies to private land in Deschutes County outside of urban growth boundaries.

DESCRIPTION:Join Embrace Bend for a heartwarming event at the Council On Aging of Central Oregon\, located at Northeast 5th Street in Bend\, OR\, USA. \nWinter Community Care is all about coming together as a community to spread warmth. We will be learning how to support people and groups during cold weather and holiday months. As you know\, all sorts of groups and individuals struggle during winter whether it is due to isolation\, cold weather\, depression\, access\, or lack of financial resources. We will be learning about what the problem is for key underserved groups in our community and what the opportunities are to help with wallets\, time\, amplifying to networks\, or other resources. There will be in opportunity to sign up to help\, information about donations\, and ways to keep in touch with these key organizations in the future. \nThis will also be in opportunity for people to come and find out what resources are available to them\, so our partners will stand ready to assist. Please attend if you are seeking out assistance and we will make sure to find you the help that you need. \nWe are pleased to be partnering for this event with the Council on Aging.
