SUMMARY:UP North Loop Talks
DESCRIPTION:Imagine walking out your front door one day in May and not coming back until early November\, covering more than 2\,600 miles on foot between those two days. \nThat’s just what Ras and Kathy Vaughn did last year when they embarked on a journey through the Pacific Northwest\, stitching together portions of several long trails in order to create one massive loop hike. \nRas and Kathy – also known as Team UltraPedestrian – were the first people to ground-truth a possible cross-country connection between the Idaho Centennial Trail and the Oregon Desert Trail\, a route which also includes extensive cross-country travel. With a bit of shimmying through canyons and a few twists and turns\, they made it work. \nThis adventurous thru-hiking duo will be presenting near you soon: \nUP North Loop Talks \n\nApril 11\, 7 p.m. | Footzone\, Bend\, OR\nApril 24\, 7 p.m. | Mountain Supply\, Bend\, OR\nMay 7\, 6 p.m. | Deschutes Public Library\, Downtown Bend\, OR

SUMMARY:The Dam Fiasco at Bull Flat: A look back at the 1913-1914 Tumalo Project
DESCRIPTION:One hundred years ago the State of Oregon stepped in to help settlers in the Tumalo area salvage their crushed dreams. A rogue’s gallery of grifters\, chiselers\, swindlers and cheats had left hundreds of settlers high and dry. The State’s well-intended plans to bring irrigation to the area went awry. Join Mike Berry for a presentation on the follies and foibles of the Tumalo Project.

SUMMARY:WILD UTAH: America's Red Rock Wilderness Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:WILD UTAH: America’s Red Rock Wilderness is a 14-minute documentary that advocates for protecting more than 9 million acres of federally managed public lands as Wilderness\, areas of pristine natural beauty\, unique and untrammeled ecosystems\, and unfathomable cultural significance. This film takes the viewer through the diverse landscape and draws upon diverse voices to tell the story of why these lands are worth protecting\, why oil and gas production\, off-road vehicle use\, mining\, and even politicians are risking the integrity of the landscape\, and what can be done to ensure these public lands are protected for generations to come. \nJoin us for the screening of the film and a discussion about public lands and what you can do to protect them. \nSponsored by Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance. Please RSVP on Facebook or email  waor@suwa.org.
