DESCRIPTION:(Even if you’re not a brewery) \nJoin us as we explore how local businesses can make their operations more energy efficient from the field to the factory and the office to the warehouse. \nThe brewery supply chain encompasses a diverse set of businesses and industries that all have the opportunity to save a lot of energy and a lot of money. We’ll follow the supply chain of our favorite beverage from hop farm\, to brewery\, to refrigerator\, to hand (because you’ll have a nice cold one in your hand while you listen) to learn how local businesses can save energy. \nLocal and Oregon-based businesses including Coleman Agriculture\, Deschutes Brewery\,  Sno Temp\, and Worthy Brewing\, will highlight case studies of how they are saving and producing energy and will be joined by technical experts for a Q&A discussion to help you find the energy-saving potential of your business. \nThis will be an informative session for business owners\, Green Teams\, inspired employees looking to make a difference at work\, and for community members who are interested in seeing how local businesses are walking the talk when it comes to sustainability. Doors open in the Hop Mahal at Worthy Brewing at 5:00 to network and grab a beer. The panel discussion will run from 5:30-6:30. SUMMARY:Stars Over Newberry
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, August 10th\, 2018\, Discover Your Forest will play host to hundreds of guests at the 4th Annual Stars Over Newberry fundraiser.  The event will take place atop Lava Butte in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument and will feature stargazing with Worthy Garden Club and Sisters Astronomy Club\, live music by Blackstrap Bluegrass\, a silent auction\, delicious Worthy Brewing beers\, wine from Volcano Vineyards and creative bites by Wild Oregon Foods. \nThis event will raise much needed funds for conservation education programs which connect over 9\,000 kids annually with their public lands on free field trips.  This event will sell out so get your tickets early.  Patron tickets are available for those who want to provide additional support for these important programs.

SUMMARY:Saturday Bird Walks
DESCRIPTION:Join Tom Lawler\, expert local birder and nature photographer\, to discover the rich bird habitats of Sunriver. With Tom’s keen eye and guidance\, you will spot and learn to identify a variety of species found in the wetlands\, meadows\, and forests surrounding the Nature Center. Whether you are new to birding or an experienced birder\, there is always something exciting to see through your binoculars! \nEarly registration is strongly encouraged and participation is limited to 12 birders. Expect to walk approximately three to four miles along various trails. Please no strollers or dogs. Wear sturdy and water-resistant footwear and bring a bottle of water and a pair of binoculars with you. Bird walks are geared toward adults\, however children with a serious interest in birding are welcome with a parent/guardian.
