SUMMARY:Harney County Migratory Bird Festival
DESCRIPTION:Spend an amazing weekend witnessing the spectacular spring  migration in the Harney Basin of Southeast Oregon. View thousands of migratory birds as they rest and feed in the open spaces of Oregon’s  high desert. Held annually in April in Harney County. \nThe Harney County Migratory Bird Festival was first held in 1981 to celebrate the large annual migration of birds passing through Harney Basin on the Pacific Flyway. Harney Basin is one of the three most important areas left in the western United States for spring migratory birds stopping on their way north. \nOver 300 species of birds use the refuge throughout each year\, making Harney Basin a bird watcher’s paradise. Today\, we continue to celebrate the migratory birds’ return each year with guided tours led by experts\, workshops\, and fun activities for both youth and adults.

SUMMARY:2016 Salmon Run
DESCRIPTION:One of Bend’s oldest organized races and a locals’ favorite!\nThe Environmental Center is the Salmon Run beneficiary. Over the past 3 years\, over $5\,000 has been raised for TEC programs! \nREGISTER TODAY! \nKick off the 2016 race season with a true Bend tradition. One of the first half marathons of the year in the Northwest\, it has long been central to the local racing scene. Because of its early-season timing\, it is also an important race for runners looking to build a base for future half-marathons. \nCelebrate the amazing expedition at the 28th Annual Salmon Run\nEach year\, the mighty Salmon make an expedition of a lifetime back to their homes – traversing thousands of miles and overcoming countless obstacles on their river journeys. The Salmon juxtapose the infinite space of their ocean homes against the micro-streams of their birth in one monumental run. Their achievement is awesome in the true sense of the word. \nChoose your own migratory distance –Half Marathon\, 10K\, or Little Fry Children’s Races \nExperience the awesomeness of the salmon migration by completing your own Salmon Run! Begin and end your adventure along the Deschutes River and imagine what a river journey could be like for the mighty salmon. The backdrop couldn’t be more beautiful than the Deschutes River corridor in beautiful Bend\, Oregon.

SUMMARY:Bend 2030 Presents Envision OSU-Cascades
DESCRIPTION:Bend 2030 will host four workshops in April offering community members a chance to envision the future of Oregon State University – Cascades’ new campus and to provide input on the university’s long-range development plan. \nWhat ideas do you have for the new campus? Come and share them at these interactive and informative workshops. Participants will view preliminary campus models and plans\, use clickers to weigh in on big questions\, ask questions of OSU-Cascades planning team and offer insights for making this campus the best it can be. \nEach workshop will be hosted in a different quadrant of Bend—northeast\, southeast\, southwest and northwest—at locally owned pubs or restaurants. These convenient and casual workshops are designed to be fun\, with many different methods for community members to provide feedback on campus design\, as well as free appetizers and in most locations\, a no-host bar. \nInput from the workshops will be shared with OSU-Cascades in a report later this spring. The report and other community feedback will be considered by the architectural design team. The input will assist the design team in planning a university campus that reflects the values and needs of the Central Oregon community\, and also reflects the institution’s academic\, research and community service priorities. \nEnvision OSU-Cascades Event Details \nNORTHEAST BEND\nWednesday\, April 13\n5-7:30 p.m.\nRiverbend Brewing\n2650 NE Division St. \nNORTHWEST BEND\nThursday\, April 14\n5-7:30 p.m.\nBroken Top Bottle Shop\n1740 NW Pence Lane \nSOUTHWEST BEND\nWednesday\, April 20\n5-7:30 p.m.\nLa Rosa\nBrookswood Plaza\, 19570 Amber Meadow Dr. \nSOUTHEAST BEND\nThursday\, April 21\n5-7:30 p.m.\nKelly D’s Irish Pub\n1012 SE Cleveland Ave.
