SUMMARY:Harney County Migratory Bird Festival
DESCRIPTION:Spend an amazing weekend witnessing the spectacular spring  migration in the Harney Basin of Southeast Oregon. View thousands of migratory birds as they rest and feed in the open spaces of Oregon’s  high desert. Held annually in April in Harney County. \nThe Harney County Migratory Bird Festival was first held in 1981 to celebrate the large annual migration of birds passing through Harney Basin on the Pacific Flyway. Harney Basin is one of the three most important areas left in the western United States for spring migratory birds stopping on their way north. \nOver 300 species of birds use the refuge throughout each year\, making Harney Basin a bird watcher’s paradise. Today\, we continue to celebrate the migratory birds’ return each year with guided tours led by experts\, workshops\, and fun activities for both youth and adults.

SUMMARY:Bend Bike Swap
DESCRIPTION:2016 BEND BIKE SWAP\nDates:  April 7th through 9th \nLocation: Bend National Guard Armory \nOnline Item registration: Click on the Item Registration tab at the top of this page \nOn-Site Item Registration:  April 7th from 3PM to 6PM\, April 8th from 9AM to 11AM \nBike Swap Sale and Events:  April 8th from Noon to 6PM\, April 9th from 9AM to 3PM \nItem Pickup:  You can pick up consigned items that did not sell on Saturday the 9th between 4PM to 6PM. \nThe Bike Swap began as the brainchild of Ryan McGlone\, a Boneyard Cycling team member that was looking for new ways to give back to the local community.  After sharing this idea with other team members over frosty pints it was clear that Bend was in need of a bike swap and it was up to Boneyard to make it happen.  All the team needed was a place to hold the event.  As word spread\, local business owner Matt Massingale generously stepped in and offered up Cascade Rack’s retail space as the first venue location.   Armed with a shoestring budget and limited planning\, the First Annual Bend Bike Swap boasted serious promise yielding $12\,000 in sales\, raising just over a thousand dollars for local beneficiaries Mount Bachelor Sports Education Foundation and Bend Endurance Academy.  From there we knew this needed to become an annual event! \nWhat is the ultimate goal of the Bend Bike Swap?  Create a community event that serves as Central Oregon’s kickoff to the spring cycling season\, and to raise money for multiple local nonprofit cycling advocates.    The more we grow\, the more we give back! \nHow much money does Boneyard Cycling Make off this event?  Believe it or not\, Boneyard Cycling takes ZERO revenue from the event.  We count on generous sponsor support to cover event costs.  We do use event sales revenues to cover any cost overrides.  Besides that\, everything we make goes to support our beneficiaries that help with the planning and organization of this event. \nWhat does the Boneyard Team get out of this event?  A few extra months of additional stress and the great satisfaction of giving back to our community\, and cultivating new friendships through enthusiastic conversation over two-wheeled human powered transportation.
