SUMMARY:Lexicon of Sustainability Art Show
DESCRIPTION:Come on down to The Environmental Center to view the ongoing pop-up art show of the Lexicon of Sustainability. This project is based on a simple principle: people can’t be expected to live more sustainable lives if they don’t know the most basic terms and principles that define sustainability. \nBy illuminating the vocabulary of sustainable agriculture\, and with it\, the conversation about America’s rapidly evolving food culture\, the Lexicon of Sustainability educated\, engages\, and activates people to pay closer attention to how they eat\, what they buy\, and where their responsibility begins for creating a healthier\, safer food system in America. \nThe show will be hanging on the outside front porch and in the Audubon room\, High Desert room\, and hallway of The Environmental Center through the rest of July and August. Take your time looking through the art\, and when you are done\, please answer our question: How are you Living the Green in Bend? From all of the answers submitted\, we will be drawing for 2 free tickets to the sold-out Jack Johnson All At Once show on August 24th. The Environmental Center is one of a few nonprofits in OR to be sponsored during this show! Ticket Drawing will take place on August 18th. \nYour answers will also be shared on our website\, in social media (#livingthegreen #inBend)\, and at The Environmental Center. \nIf you are interested in hosting these images at your school\, farm\, or business\, please contact Owen Murphy or call 541-383-7766. Live\, learn\, and inspire!

SUMMARY:Seeds of Death Film
DESCRIPTION:Every single independent study conducted on the impact of genetically modified food shows that it damages organs\, it causes infertility\, it causes immune system failure\, it causes holes in the GI tract\, and it causes multiple organ system failure.  BigAg has built an industrial model which doesn’t fit nature\, so they’re changing nature by inserting genes of completely different species and tolerance to huge doses of chemical poisons.  The film asks the question\, should we allow the future of food security to rely on GMOs and Monsanto?  80 minutes.  Free showing! \nAt the Deschutes Downtown Library\, Brooks Room
