SUMMARY:Interpretive Snow Tours Begin
DESCRIPTION:Discover Your Forest\, in collaboration with the Deschutes National Forest and Mt. Bachelor Ski Area\, will begin their annual interpretive snow tours in the next few weeks.\nBeginning December 19\, 2015 visitors to the Mt. Bachelor Ski Area can go on a snowshoe tour with a ranger\, ski or snowboard Mt. Bachelor slopes with a ranger\, or chat with a roving ranger around Mt. Bachelor. All interpretive programs focus on the ecology\, geology and wildlife of the Cascades. \nSnow conditions permitting\, snowshoe programs will start Saturday\, December 19\, 2015 and run through Saturday\, March 26\, 2016.  Interested participants will meet at the Forest Service snowshoeing hut located at Mt. Bachelor’s West Village at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on weekends and school break week days with the exception of Christmas and New Year’s Day.  Tours last 90 minutes and snowshoes are provided for the tour. No prior experience is needed. Participants must be 10 years or older and should dress appropriately for cold weather. \nOn weekends beginning Saturday\, December 26\, 2015 and running through Saturday\, March 26\, 2016 an interpretive ski and snowboard tour will be offered on Mt. Bachelor’s groomed runs. The tour\, which lasts an hour\, begins at the top of the Pine Marten lift at 2 p.m. Participants are responsible for having lift tickets and appropriate equipment\, as well as\, basic riding skills.  In addition\, skiers and snowboarders will find interpretive rangers roving between Outback and Sunrise Express lifts ready to answer questions. \nWhile both programs are free\, a donation of $5 is suggested to help non-profit Discover Your Forest continue to provide educational programing and volunteer support to the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests and the Crooked River National Grassland. \nReservations are not required for individual participants. Commercial honeybee operations pollinate crops that make up one out of every three bites of food on our tables. \nVanishing of the Bees follows commercial beekeepers David Hackenberg and Dave Mendes as they strive to keep their bees healthy and fulfill pollination contracts across the U.S. The film explores the struggles they face as the two friends plead their case on Capital Hill and travel across the Pacific Ocean in the quest to protect their honeybees. \nFilming across the US\, in Europe\, Australia and Asia\, this documentary examines the alarming disappearance of honeybees and the greater meaning it holds about the relationship between mankind and mother earth. As scientists puzzle over the cause\, organic beekeepers indicate alternative reasons for this tragic loss. Conflicting options abound and after years of research\, a definitive answer has not been found to this harrowing mystery. \nThe film is narrated by Ellen Page.

DESCRIPTION:Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show is an annual fundraising event for REALMS Magnet School.  Started in 2010\, this fundraiser features an eclectic\, wearable art runway show (featuring both trash fashion and re-fashioned garments)\, a live and silent auction\, and a gallery style marketplace (where contributing local artists sell and showcase thier work). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Thursday\, January 14th there will be two shows.  \nFIRST SHOW – 6PM (Doors open at 5:00PM)  – all ages \nSECOND SHOW – 8:30PM (Doors open at 7:30PM) – 21and over (ID Required) \nLocal food and drink willl be available for purchase. \nContact:  Amy Anderson\n541-322-5323 (office)\nrubbishrenewed@gmail.com \nPlease DO NOT print your ticket!  The event organizers will have an electronic list of everyone who purchased tickets.
