This year\, festivities will span from 7:30 – 11:00 PM\, giving visitors an unparalleled vista of the night sky and a chance to glimpse the early hours of the Perseid Meteor Shower. \nStars Over Newberry is the largest annual fundraising event for Discover Your Forest which supports stewardship\, conservation education and volunteer programs in Central Oregon’s National Forests.

DESCRIPTION:For today’s buildings to play a role in tomorrow’s communities\, they need to be built to last and adaptable\, rather than simply demolished. In 2004\, the Canada Green Building Council added the Durable Building credit to the LEED program in recognition of problems associated with building performance\, sustainability and durability. The definition of “awesome” is intentionally left up to your imagination. It could mean solving a problem\, making someone stop and think\, or spreading joy– think social good\, the environment\, technology\, arts and beyond! \nThe grant has no strings attached (other than doing something awesome and telling us about it). We are high on action and low on bureaucracy. The application takes 15 minutes or less. SUMMARY:Bend UGB Remand Community Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The City of Bend encourages Bend citizens and area residents to attend an upcoming community meeting to learn more about and comment on the City’s Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) Remand project\, including an evaluation of different UGB expansion scenarios. \nAttendees are encouraged to arrive at any time.  A presentation will be provided beginning at approximately 7 p.m.. Staff will be available throughout the meeting to provide information and answer questions.  Attendees also may review a variety of meeting displays describing the working results of the scenarios evaluation process. Children are welcome to attend and activities will be provided for them.  Attendees will also be shown how they can use an interactive\, online tool to comment on the UGB scenarios. That online feedback tool will ask community members to weigh in on the relative importance of different evaluation criteria\, identify a preferred UGB scenario and comment on possible approaches for managing future growth in Bend.  The tool will be accessible from the City’s website\, beginning on or before September 24.
