SUMMARY:Building a Climate-Resilient Future: Innovative Design and New Public Policies
DESCRIPTION:Oregon’s second-largest source of climate pollution comes from the energy we use to heat\, cool\, and operate offices\, commercial businesses\, homes\, and public buildings. These same buildings are also a line of defense against climate threats like extreme heat and wildfire smoke. Buildings are therefore an essential component in combating climate change and protecting us from the threats that are already here. Smart buildings also use less energy and can make operating buildings and homes more affordable. \nThis event will explore what sustainable building innovators are doing here in Oregon to raise the bar for climate-smart buildings\, how more progressive building policies and incentives can facilitate this important transition\, and what our workforce’s needs and protections are going forward.
