SUMMARY:Indigenous Perspectives on Earth and Sky\, Featuring Dr. John B. Herrington
DESCRIPTION:John Herrington is a retired US Naval Aviator\, test pilot\, and former NASA astronaut. As a mission specialist\, he made history becoming the first Native American in space aboard the shuttle Endeavour in 2002. During the mission\, he conducted three spacewalks totaling nearly 20 hours. To honor his Chickasaw heritage\, Herrington carried a Chickasaw Nation flag on his 13-day trip into space. Commander Herrington earned a PhD in Education from the University of Idaho in 2014. His research investigated the factors that motivated and engaged Native American students on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation following a NASA Summer program.

DESCRIPTION:On October 2nd\, 2021 community members will be gathering at Centennial Park in Redmond\, Oregon to march in solidarity with our nation and friends in Texas. People across the country will be marching to protest the ongoing attacks on womxn’s reproductive rights and healthcare. \nIn addition to a solidarity march there will be speeches from community members and organizations present with valuable information/resources to access in our area. \nNO Islamophobic signs saying “American Taliban\,”. What is being protested has nothing to do with the war on terror. Also guests should remember that trans men\, non-binary people and more LGBTQ+ can get pregnant and can have an abortion\, meaning that this is an LGBTQ+ issue just as much as a women’s issue. No transphobia allowed. \nPlease wear a mask and social distance.
