SUMMARY:Hike Along the Metolius
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for the first in a series of three hikes along the Metolius River with LandWatch’s very own wildlife program director Nathan Hovekamp! \nThe first hike will begin at the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery. We will make our way upstream to Canyon Creek Campground while learning about the flora and fauna of the basin. This is an out-and-back walk that begins and ends at the fish hatchery. The total walking distance is about 5.5 miles. The trail conditions are mostly level with occasional muddy spots\, rocks\, or tree roots\, and mixed sun and shade. Each field trip will take 5-6 hours total\, including round trip driving time from Bend. \nSuggested equipment: comfortable hiking shoes\, sack lunch\, plenty of water\, sun and bug sauce\, binoculars\, and field guides.

DESCRIPTION:The Citywide Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) provides recommendations related to the updates of the Transportation System Plan (TSP) and Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). This committee is getting closer to drafting the new TSP\, which will be the guiding document for transportation in Bend over the next 20 years. Any new transportation projects in the City over the next 20 years\, including transit\, bike lanes\, sidewalks\, and road projects will be included in this plan. This will be the committee’s first discussion of priorities.  \nAll meetings are open to the public\, with an opportunity for public comment at the beginning and end. DESCRIPTION:Out CentralOregon presents the first ever Pride 5K Run/Walk in Bend celebrating inclusivity and expanding on the Central Oregon Pride Festival. June 22nd events include: 5K festive course\, followed by a Drag Dash (a short 100-200 meter ‘dash’ of fun and silliness)\, Spirit awards for Costumes\, and finishes with raffles of awesome prizes donated by super cool local sponsors. The 5K route is from Drake Park along the Deschutes River to Farewell Bend Park\, through the Old Mill & returns to Drake Park. The course provides visibility for the LGBTQ+ Community on a day of celebration and love.

DESCRIPTION:The Ochoco Campout is just a few weeks away—a weekend in the heart of the Ochoco National Forest!  Experience the stillness of a ponderosa hillside\, forest scents\, a gurgling creek\, the starry night-time sky. Hey\, it’s time for a Nature recharge. \nFriday evening we’ll have a brief welcome and orientation.  Saturday offers different levels of hikes\, including at least one to the top of iconic Lookout Mountain. That evening is a potluck group dinner in the Pavilion\, a talk on the Ochoco Mountains area history and Juniper Group’s forest conservation work. \nRegistration is now open.  Suggested donation is $22/person for the weekend to cover campground\, food\, equipment and expenses.
