SUMMARY:Pride Week\, Dykes on Bikes
DESCRIPTION:The Official “Dykes on Bikes” out of Portland will be here this year for Central Oregon Pride 2014. The newly formed chapter of the DOB motorcycle club will be coming to Central Oregon to help kick off this year’s event with a loosely organized ride. As in the past 2 years\, we will meet at Strictly Organic Coffee (a HUGE friend of the gay community). From there we will do a ride through the Old Mill\, past a few parks\, then through what ever part of downtown we can access (Bite of Bend on the same weekend)\, finishing at Drake Park (Bend\, OR) about 12:30 to help Kick Off the Opening Ceremony for Pride. \nAs many of you may know\, DOB has been a long standing icon for the kick off of many a gay parade. All are welcome to join in the ride. Male\, female\, neither or both. Mopeds\, scooters\, crotch rockets or rumbling hogs. We don’t discriminate. \nIf you are interested\, please send Tina Jo Bandy-Rogers a message. Be sure to share this with everyone and anyone you think MIGHT be interested.\nThanks \nHERE IS MORE INFO:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/417297748381618 \nAnd go here for more information about this event and to RVSP.

SUMMARY:Steens Backcountry Fence Repair Trip
DESCRIPTION:The Oregon Natural Desert Association has openings for a few more volunteers to join us for the Steens Backcountry Fence Repair Trip July 8-13. Volunteers will backpack into our base camp located along the Donner und Blitzen River. The work includes several days of repairing sections of the Steens Mountain Wilderness boundary fence and opportunities to explore the area. This giant fault block Mountain\, nearly 10\,000 feet high\, carved by glaciers\, and covered by wildflowers elicits terms such as “gem”\, “jewel”\, and “iconic”. This year\, the Oregon Natural Desert Association is offering an additional backpacking work trip on Steens Mountain. \nHelping remove obsolete fences from cow-free areas has been an ONDA priority since it was founded in 1987. Recently\, ONDA has acquired the skill set to build and repair fences. Sometimes fences can be a good thing for wildlife. This is certainly the case for the cow free boundary fence to the Steens Wilderness that is the only thing keeping the cows out. On this trip we will backpack to the edge of the Wilderness boundary and spend several days working with the BLM to repair the boundary fence. \n \nRegister and learn more about this trip at the Oregon Natural Desert Association’s website.
