Join Deschutes Land Trust and The Museum at Warm Springs Executive Director Elizabeth Woody to learn about some of the long-lived creeds and ceremonial codes the Warm Springs people hold in relation to the land. Elizabeth will share examples of Tiichám which describes the land\, our earth\, as the Long Memory of the land\, including the understanding of a relationship from the Creator to the people. The Tiichám says\, “the land is for you. This is the past\, the present and the future.” It always was and always will be. She will also share the Twanat which says “you must follow the teachings on the land” and offer these creeds as a model for how we can all care for the land.

DESCRIPTION:Pacific Power and Madras-JC Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the installation of a fast charging station with a free grand opening event! Get an up-close look at electric vehicles\, get a demonstration on EV charging\, enjoy light refreshments and learn about the future of charging infrastructure in Oregon. \nThe ribbon cutting will take place at 11:30 a.m \nOregon has big plans for electric vehicles. The state has a goal to have 50\,000 electric-fueled vehicles on Oregon’s highways and byways by the end of 2020. Pacific Power and the Madras-JC Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to ensure electric vehicle drivers have another fast\, convenient place to power up during central Oregon journeys. As the first dual-standard charger in operation in the area\, up to six electric vehicles can charge at once. All makes and models of electric vehicles can recharge using one of four fast chargers or choose a L2 dual port. \n  \n

Join Bend-area speakers Rita Hansen of On-Board Dynamics and Tucker Ruberti of Enelx for a conversation about creating economic opportunities in the era of climate change. \nPlease RSVP!\nRita Hansen\, On-Board Dynamics\nRita Hansen is the CEO and co-founder of Onboard Dynamics\, a company that seeks to lower fuel costs and carbon emissions by removing refueling infrastructure barriers to driving natural gas vehicles. Rita has over 30 years of executive management\, engineering and operations management\, and project management experience in a diverse range of industries. Since 2006\, she has specialized in early phase environments which focus on global opportunities in the energy and environmental sectors. \nTucker Ruberti\, of Enelx\nTucker Ruberti is the Director or Technical Sales for the Enel X energy storage business.  In his role he leads the North American technical sales and analysis organization to develop simulation\, design\, configuration and financial analysis.  The team leverages the Enel X multi-value stream optimization capabilities to extract the maximum customer value in any application. Mr. Ruberti earned a BS in Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and an MS in Environmental Management & Policy from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  He has worked in the energy technology since 1993\, working for a broad range of companies including Advanced Energy\, Westinghouse\, General Electric\, and NYSERDA in diverse applications including energy storage\, PV\, fuel cells and power distribution.

La caminata se llevará a cabo el domingo 12 de enero a las 12:30 pm. \nHay un camino ubicado más arriba que corre un vuelta de 1.6 millas – es un camino de grava y pueden traer sus carriolas! También hay un camino cerca del río de 1.25 millas\, pero no será un paseo agradable si piensan traer carriolas. Dependiendo de lo que prefiere la gente\, podemos hacer una o ambas de estas opciones. \n¡¡​Para esta salida estaremos rifando artículos de ​CairnTM y zapatos de caminata de KeenTM!! Comenten abajo si piensan en acompañarnos.\n*​Debido a que este terreno está siendo restaurado\, no se permiten perros. \n\nWe hope that you all have had a great holiday season and are ready for an amazing new year! To start the new year off right\, we have planned our next outing. We will be hiking Riley Ranch Preserve which is located on the outskirts of Bend. The hike will take place on Sunday January 12th at 12:30 pm. \nThere is a top section which is a 1.6 mile loop – it is a gravel trail and stroller friendly! The lower river trail is 1.25 miles and is not stroller friendly. Depending on what people prefer\, we can do one or both of these options.For this outing\, we will be raffling off items from Cairn™ and hiking shoes from Keen™!!  \n*Because this piece of land is undergoing restoration\, dogs are not allowed.

Antarctica for its pristine\, remote and pure natural environment and Kashmir for its rich cultural and exquisite skiing opportunities. \nThe presentation will be photography based with an inspiring film from b4apres that will explain the situation that Kashmir faces with the political situation happening as we speak. \nCome enjoy your evening with beverages provided by Deschutes Brewery. Three years and a massive renovation project later\, the vision has become a reality: Embark is now home to an inspiring coworking community\, the Ruffwear retail store\, Crow’s Feet\, and Embark Fitness. \nThe building was designed and built with sustainability as a top priority. Once you step inside\, it’s obvious how much thought went into the beautiful interior\, featuring the work of local artists\, a giant community calendar\, and a prominent zero-waste station. Another thing that stands out is the unique nail laminated timber ceiling/floor installation\, with FSC-certified wood sourced from Bright Wood\, a mill in Madras. DESCRIPTION:Join 10 Barel Brewing and Surfrider Foundation to discuss surfing\, recreation and conservation on the Deschutes River!\n\n\n\n\n10 Barrel has graciously stepped up to host Surfrider for a screening of Handmade 2 Surf\, which premiered last summer in San Diego.  The pub will donate $1 of every beer sale to Surfrider at this event! In addition to the film\, you’ll get an update from Bend Parks and Recreation District’s Wavemaster\, Ryan Richards\, regarding the river wave and restorations efforts that are taking place. \nYou’ll have time to network\, learn how to get involved\, and sign up to be a Surfrider member ($25) for a chance to win raffle prizes! \nPlease register in advance.
