As casually observed by many\, and truly noticed by few\, farmers are the ultimate innovators. From fixing broken machinery\, to crafting complex security systems for curious livestock\, to gently tricking plants to a higher yield\, an extra month of production\, or an early germination\, farmers and ranchers are the ultimate craftsman. It takes a certain type of ingenuity\, or mad genius\, to contend with nature. And farmers have just that type of genius it takes. DESCRIPTION:The Central Oregon Community College (COCC) Sustainability Committee\, in partnership with Central Oregon Locavore and the High Desert Food & Farm Alliance\, is hosting the 4th annual Spring Farm & Food Faire on Saturday\, May 4th\, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coats Campus Center in Bend. Rain or shine\, this event is free and open to the public. \nThe Spring Farm & Food Faire is an opportunity to browse\, taste\, and talk about local food. Purchase early-season crops\, eggs\, meats\, seed starts\, honey\, or sign up for community-supported agriculture (CSA) and herdshare memberships from 15+ area farms and ranches. The faire also serves as ​a place to learn about farm dinners\, events\, and volunteer opportunities scheduled throughout the year.
