SUMMARY:Saving Snow Documentary Screening
DESCRIPTION:Across the country\, people who depend on winter for their livelihood are feeling the heat. On the sidelines of skiing and snowboarding\, an epic struggle to reverse rising temperatures is unfolding. Ski towns and the snow sports industry are paving the way towards a clean energy future. \nThis 53-minute documentary by filmmaker Diogo Freire finds specific examples of communities that are being affected—and also show how they’re responding. “Saving Snow” focuses on people coming to terms with these changes. But it also presents solutions. The film highlights individuals and organizations who are working to reduce their communities’ impacts on the environment and raise awareness of the need for action. \nLearn more about the film here. \nQ&A to follow the film\, plus a few words from a special guess and local POW ambassador\, Matt Baker. Come learn more about how to get involved in climate action right here in our own community. This event is being organized in partnership by The Environmental Center\, Protect our Winters (POW)\, and Oregon League of Conservation Voters (OLCV). Big thanks to 10 Barrel Brewing for hosting! \n  \n \n \n \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Before the Flood
DESCRIPTION:Leonardo DiCaprio shares his two-year journey exploring climate change and its effects around the world in this film\, featuring Barak Obama\, Elon Musk\, Bill Clinton\, and John Kerry. As DiCaprio said so eloquently as he addressed the opening of the Signature Ceremony for the Paris Agreement\, “We know that climate change is happening faster than even the most pessimistic of scientists warned us decades ago. It has become a runaway freight train bringing with it an impending disaster for all living things. \n“Now think about the shame that each of us will carry when our children and grandchildren look back and realize that we had the means of stopping this devastation\, but simply lacked the political will to do so. Our planet cannot be saved unless we leave fossil fuels in the ground where they belong. An upheaval and massive change is required\, now—one that leads to a new collective consciousness\, a new collective evolution of the human race\, inspired and enabled by a sense of urgency from all of you.”
