SUMMARY:Climate Change\, Plants\, and Future Possibilities
DESCRIPTION:Learn how native plants can help mitigate the effects of climate change.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChristina Veverka\, Botanist with the Deschutes National Forest\, will explore the latest research from around the globe on climate change and the effects that scientists are seeing to native plant communities. Not all ‘doom and gloom\,’ Christina will highlight current research on the potential for plants to mitigate the effects of climate change through their ability to absorb carbon.

SUMMARY:Deadly Diesel in Our Air: Risks to Climate and Your Health
DESCRIPTION:Diesel soot is everywhere. Its toxic particles are so small\, they lodge in your lungs and create respiratory and health problems years later. Children breathe it on school buses. You breathe it when following a truck or bus. People and workers in neighborhoods undergoing construction breathe it. \nThroughout Oregon\, concentrations of diesel particulate matter\, the byproduct of diesel exhaust\, are more than 10 to 20 times higher than the state’s health-based air quality benchmarks. \nAttend this valuable presentation to learn the effects of diesel pollution\, the risks to you and your loved ones and what you do about it. \nPresenters: \n\nDr. Julianne Fry\, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Studies\, Reed College\nMary Peveto\, Executive Director\, Neighbors for Clean Air
