SUMMARY:If I Had a Billion Dollars: How We Can Transform Oregon’s Transportation Future
DESCRIPTION:The federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) is sending nearly a billion dollars to Oregon\, with more on the table in the form of grants. If the Build Back Better Act passes\, Oregon could see even more transportation dollars. \nThe Clean and Just Transportation Network is hosting a panel discussion of leaders from communities around the state on January 19 to talk about how we’d like to see transportation dollars spent to make big strides in climate and equity.

SUMMARY:OLCV Virtual Phone Bank for 100% Clean Energy
DESCRIPTION:We’re in the final stretch of the 2021 Legislative Session\, so we’re taking our advocacy to the next level in support of the Oregon Clean Energy Opportunity Campaign\, which includes the 100% Clean Energy for All Bill. \nOLCV is making calls on Thursday\, June 3rd from 5:30 – 8:00 PM\, and we would love for you to join to help pass these crucial bills– RSVP today! \nAgenda:\n– 5:30 PM- Training\n– 6:00 PM- Make Calls!\n– 7:45 PM- Debrief\n– 8:00 PM- END \nTogether\, we’ll be calling constituents in key legislative districts to ask them to get involved in the campaign by contacting their legislator. This is a great opportunity to roll up your sleeves and help us win the Oregon Clean Energy Opportunity Campaign to pass justice-centered energy policy this legislative session. Even if you’ve never phonebanked before or are feeling rusty\, we’ll start off with a training on how to phonebank and will provide talking points on the bills. \nWe need our power to work for our communities and our climate future\, not for corporations who avoid protecting our families and environment.

SUMMARY:Community Solar - Local clean energy comes to Oregon
DESCRIPTION:Join Electrify Now\, Community Energy Project\, Solar Oregon\, Passive House Northwest\, New Buildings Institute\, Zero Energy Project\, Renewable Hydrogen Alliance and The Environmental Center as we discuss the benefits of Community Solar and how to sign up. \nCommunity Solar is a new alternative that is just now going on-line in Oregon. New small\, utility scale solar farms are being built in the Willamette valley that enable us to subscribe to the clean energy they generate. By participating in these programs\, you are helping to fund new renewable energy generation for our state which creates green energy jobs. Subscribers get reduced rates and these projects are required to serve low income subscribers who can save as much as 20% on their electricity. \nView the event recording on YouTube.

SUMMARY:Heat Pump Water Heaters - Cost effective carbon action
DESCRIPTION:Join Electrify Now\, Community Energy Project\, Solar Oregon\, Passive House Northwest\, New Buildings Institute\, Zero Energy Project\, Renewable Hydrogen Alliance and The Environmental Center as we explore why Heat Pump Water Heaters are becoming the new standard and how to take advantage of these amazing devices in your home. \nWater heaters are the second biggest energy users in most homes and will account for 1.5 – 2.5 Tons of carbon emissions each year. Heat Pump Water Heaters use a fraction of the energy required by standard electric or gas powered models. In most homes this translates to hundreds of dollars of savings on utility bills each year. Our panel will discuss why these products are so efficient\, why they avoid carbon emissions\, what to know about installing one in your home\, and how to take advantage of the money saving promotions that are available now.

SUMMARY:Climate Justice - Electrification and equity
DESCRIPTION:Join Electrify Now\, Community Energy Project\, Solar Oregon\, Passive House Northwest\, New Buildings Institute\, Zero Energy Project\, Renewable Hydrogen Alliance and The Environmental Center for a webinar devoted to exploring how to electrify equitably. \nFront line communities are most effected by climate change and the pollution from fossil fuels. They are also in danger of being left behind by some energy transformation efforts. Our panel will discuss why it is important to lead with equitable solutions that prioritize the most vulnerable people in our communities and what are the steps we can take to make electrification equitable.

SUMMARY:Solar Within Reach: Affordable Homes. MIcrogrids and Resiliency for Government and Business
DESCRIPTION:Parkway Village Project\nJoe Mazzarella\, Sunlight Solar\nJacob Clark\, Habitat for Humanity \nCurious about how to afford solar and/or energy efficiency? A new program through Energy Trust of Oregon offers opportunities for individuals and builders.\nLearn how these incentives were used to build a Net Zero Energy subdivision in SunRiver\, OR. Installed equipment lowered energy bills. Learn about other solar and efficiency incentives that are available to individuals that are below an income threshold. These can be used on many different types of single family and multifamily dwellings. \nMIcrogrid and Storage: Driving Independence and Resiliency Through Your Energy Infrastructure\nJoe Mankiewicz and Jeremy Fuller\, Ameresco\nEnergy infrastructure is critical to health\, business\, and many other aspects of life. What do you do when your power goes out. Ameresco will discuss how it helps organizations meet energy saving and energy management challenges with an integrated comprehensive approach to energy efficiency and renewable energy. Leveraging budget neutral solutions\, including energy savings performance contracts (ESPCs) and power purchase agreements (PPAs)\, we eliminate the financial barriers that traditionally hamper energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.\nExamples will be provided of selected energy management from the commercial\, industrial\, local\, state and federal government\, K-12 education\, higher education\, and/or healthcare and public housing sectors.
