SUMMARY:Removing Barriers to Net Zero Commercial-Industrial Development
DESCRIPTION:Jean von Bargen Root’s Net Zero Fellowship research explores barriers and opportunities to advance net-zero energy in commercial-industrial developments in Oregon. With a focus on the Willamette Valley\, Rogue Valley and High Desert\, Jean evaluates current and future climate conditions and assesses how local development codes\, standards and policies help or hinder net-zero performance in this building type. An accompanying design guide provides detailed design solutions for mixed-use office/industrial\, warehouses\, pre-engineering metal building and unoccupied service buildings. \nLearn more about the Net Zero Fellowship and other research findings. \nAbout the presenter: \nJean von Bargen Root AIA\, LEED AP BD+C\, Director of Sustainability at MWA Architects \nJean has been an architect and educator in the Pacific Northwest for more than 20 years and pursues projects that tackle sustainability and social justice. She oversees commercial-industrial\, Net Positive and Living Building projects. This month\, also referred to as American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month is an opportune time to learn about and support our tribal communities in present-day Central Oregon. \nEvent Description: On Thursday\, November 10th\, from 12-2 pm\, we invite you to join us at Tananáwit for November Green Drinks. You will hear from three local artists; a weaver\, a beader\, and a painter about projects they are currently working on. \nLight appetizers and beverages will be served. \nSpace is limited to 30 people for this event. DESCRIPTION:When:  Thursday Aug 11\, Tuesday Aug 16\, Tuesday Aug 23 and Tuesday Aug 30\, 5:15 to Dusk \nWhere:  Meet at the old Ray’s parking lot\, NE corner of Simpson Ave and Century Drive in Bend \nWorksite:  Varies \nThere’s only one thing better than mountain biking in Bend\, OR and that’s riding in Bend\, knowing that you helped build and maintain the trails you love. \nPlease bring a hydration pack with water and a snack. \nBe sure to bring appropriate layers to accommodate whatever the weather may be. \nQuestions?  contact@cotamtb.com \nAll COTA trail work events require the following safety measures: \nAll participants are required to have the following protective clothing and equipment: \n\nSturdy shoes or boots\nGloves\nEye protection with clear or light colored lens\nLong pants\n\nDue to COTA’s insurance requirements and the inherent dangers of trail work\, we must implement the following policy regarding children at work events: \n\nFor anyone 14 years of age or younger\, we require one parent\, guardian\, or responsible adult for supervision of every four kids attending any COTA trail work events.\nAll minors under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian available to sign our waiver.\n\nAnyone who arrives for a work event may be turned away if he/she cannot meet the above requirements.
