DESCRIPTION:As part of an ongoing series of discussions on race and equity\, Central Oregon Community College (COCC) is hosting a virtual community forum titled “Addressing Racial Inequalities and Responding to Hate Speech” \nThe event is free and open to the public; attendees must register in advance. \nThe one-hour forum will include a range of items\, including an address from COCC’s president\, Dr. Laurie Chesley\, a talk on stereotypes\, prejudice and privilege presented by COCC’s psychology faculty\, a personal narrative shared by a college staff member and strategies on how to respond to hate speech. There will also be time for community questions and discussion.

SUMMARY:Virtual Farmer Chat: Food and Racial Justice
DESCRIPTION:This is a continuation of the conversation on the intersection of food and racial justice. FOFF will continue the discussions and explore one of the most popular emergent themes from this work. Mutual aid has always been part of the landscape for communities not served by the existing system. Since the pandemic\, some of these networks have redoubled their efforts and some have stepped forward for the first time. The need is apparent for long term community aid\, by and for its members. Many people have expressed interest in forming partnerships for the next season with organizations doing this work\, and many would like more information on how to get involved. \nAll farmers\, farm workers and agricultural producers are welcome to this conversation.
