SUMMARY:Creating a Toolkit for Resiliency
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a session with Ericka Huggins to reflect and discuss the race. gender and identity challenges in school and work environments\, and focus on healthy responses to these challenges through relaxing our minds and acknowledging our emotions. This session will be of direct benefit to students\, educators\, employers and employees as well as any other community members. \nThis program is co-organized by Nancy R. Chandler Visiting Scholar Program and COCC’s Diversity and Inclusion Office with sponsorship support from The Oregon Community Foundation\, Cascades Academy of Central Oregon\, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott\, Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund\, and the Associated Students of COCC. \nAbout Ericka Huggins \nEricka Huggins is a human rights activist\, poet\, educator\, former Black Panther leader and former political prisoner who has devoted her life to the equitable treatment of all human beings. She has lectured across the country and internationally on issues relating to the well-being of women\, children & youth; restorative justice as the antidote to punitive justice; whole being education\, and the role of spiritual practice in sustaining activism and promoting social change.

DESCRIPTION:When:  Thursday Aug 11\, Tuesday Aug 16\, Tuesday Aug 23 and Tuesday Aug 30\, 5:15 to Dusk \nWhere:  Meet at the old Ray’s parking lot\, NE corner of Simpson Ave and Century Drive in Bend \nWorksite:  Varies \nThere’s only one thing better than mountain biking in Bend\, OR and that’s riding in Bend\, knowing that you helped build and maintain the trails you love. \nPlease bring a hydration pack with water and a snack. \nBe sure to bring appropriate layers to accommodate whatever the weather may be. \nQuestions?  contact@cotamtb.com \nAll COTA trail work events require the following safety measures: \nAll participants are required to have the following protective clothing and equipment: \n\nSturdy shoes or boots\nGloves\nEye protection with clear or light colored lens\nLong pants\n\nDue to COTA’s insurance requirements and the inherent dangers of trail work\, we must implement the following policy regarding children at work events: \n\nFor anyone 14 years of age or younger\, we require one parent\, guardian\, or responsible adult for supervision of every four kids attending any COTA trail work events.\nAll minors under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian available to sign our waiver.\n\nAnyone who arrives for a work event may be turned away if he/she cannot meet the above requirements.
