SUMMARY:Happy Hour in the Garden
DESCRIPTION:Join us in our Kansas Avenue Learning Garden for our ongoing volunteer work party series. In 2022\, volunteers contributed over 200 hours to help keep our learning garden maintained over the growing season. We couldn’t do it without you! \nThis event is open to all ages and gardening abilities! No experience or tools required. Beer and non-alcoholic beverages are provided for all who volunteer. Each event includes seasonal ongoing tasks as well as special projects as needed throughout the growing season. Volunteers are welcome to pop in for an hour or stay the whole time. No need to RSVP or commit ahead of time. (Pro tip – put the following dates in your phone calendar now – then when it pops up you can decide if it works out for you or not!) \nIn 2023\, Happy Hour in the Garden will once again run twice a month from March through October. This schedule throughout the extent of the growing season offers meaningful volunteer experiences for all who come\, and deeper care for the garden when it needs it. \nFor Spring 2023\, our Happy Hours will be 4-6pm\, on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month. \nMarch & April Happy Hours sponsored by Wild Ride Brewing \n\nMarch 7 & 21\nApril 4 & 18\n\nMay & June Happy Hours sponsored by Worthy Environmental \n\nMay 2 & 16\nJune 6 & 20\n\nStay tuned for confirmation of dates for July through October\, as these might switch to the 2nd & 4th…) \nContact Denise\, Garden Program Manager\, if you have any questions about getting involved.

DESCRIPTION:A Draft Watershed Plan-Environmental Assessment (Plan-EA) has been released for the Tumalo Irrigation District Irrigation Modernization Project. The public is invited to attend a meeting about the Draft Plan-EA. \nThe purpose of the meeting is to inform the community of the Draft Plan-EA and to gather public comments. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) developed the Draft Plan-EA in partnership with Tumalo Irrigation District\, the Deschutes Basin Board of Control\, and Farmers Conservation Alliance. View the Notice of Availability and News Release from NRCS. \nThe Draft Plan-EA and other relevant documents are available here. Guided by the work of historic and contemporary regional writers\, both long-time residents and newcomers to the region can connect more deeply with this place we all call home. Readings\, discussion\, questions\, group facilitation\, and light refreshments provided. \nOregon State University English professor Ellen Santasiero leads the group and shares her love of our region. A founding staff member of High Desert Journal and a former Writer in Residence at COCC\, her writing has appeared in Northwest Review\, The Sun\, thestayproject\, High Desert Journal\, and Oregon Home\, among others.
