DESCRIPTION:Interested in going ‘on-air’? In this hands-on course\, learn the fundamentals of radio programming\, including running the mixer and mics\, planning for music/talk shows and developing your own style. Get ready to volunteer for KPOV\, High Desert Community Radio in Bend. \nAll students attend the common lecture first class Saturday\, 9/24 from 9am – 11:30 at COCC\, followed by two studio sessions at KPOV. Studio Session 9/24 Sa & 9/25 Su\, 6:00pm-9:00pm.  \nIn a brief lecture on Saturday the 24th and two studio sessions\, you will learn everything from the history and law of community radio to hands-on production and broadcast skills. \nEnrollment for this class is through COCC Community Learning. Registration is now open. \nClick here for more information\, and to register online now. DESCRIPTION:Local Volunteers Needed! \nThis fall volunteers will be out across the state\, improving neighborhoods and natural areas during SOLVE’s Beach & Riverside Cleanup\, presented by the Oregon Lottery. Join your local event to explore your region while making a difference! \nSaturday\, 9/24 – Upper Deschutes River Cleanup \nWe will meet at the Sunriver Nature Center on the day of the event\, split up in teams (each led by a SRNC Naturalist) and head to several locations on the Upper Deschutes River from Sunriver to Benham Falls. The event starts at 9am with free coffee and light snacks served to all volunteers! Come enjoy the day cleaning up the river we all rely upon. \nActivities include: Litter Cleanup.
